FROM HEAVINESS TO HEALING in therapy
Let’s talk about it…
SOMETIMES THE MOST HEALING THING TO DO ISN’T TO CARRY THE WEIGHT BETTER IT’S TO HAVE A SAFE PLACE TO SET IT DOWN.
the invisible weight we hold
Maybe you've felt it. That low hum of heaviness that follows you through the day , a tiredness sleep doesn't quite reach, a bracing in your chest when you reach for your phone, the clench in your jaw and the undeniable sense that you're carrying something, even if you couldn't say exactly what.
If that lands, I want to say one thing clearly: you are not imagining it, and you are not carrying it alone. Therapy is not only about healing yourself it is about connecting to others to be a part of something bigger, and this my friend is what helps heal the collective world we all live in.
There's a particular kind of tired so many people are moving through right now. It isn't only about your work or your worries, as real as those are, it's something in the air we're all breathing. Hard news, endless uncertainty, grief that never quite gets a name. Our nervous systems weren't built to hold this much, this constantly is occurring, and the body keeps a quiet tally: the tension in your shoulders, the shortening patience, the way small tasks suddenly feel enormous. Those aren't signs that something is wrong with you. They're the body's honest way of saying, I'm holding more than I was meant to hold alone.
Part of what makes it so wearing is that the weight is invisible. It rarely arrives as one big crisis. This is where the confusion comes in for many of us. It accumulates, a hundred small worries and quiet losses that never got mourned. You're not carrying one heavy thing. You're carrying many light ones that never get to leave your arms and your heart space.
Here's what I most want you to hear: heaviness is real, and it is not the whole story. It's weather, not climate — a season you're moving through, not the shape of who you are. Real hope isn't pretending things are fine. It's the slow remembering that you can meet what comes, and that you were never meant to meet it alone. It begins gently — with reflection, with turning toward what you feel instead of bracing against it — and from there things start to come back into alignment. Your breath deepens. Your sense of yourself returns.
Sometimes the most healing thing isn't to carry the weight better. It's to finally have a place to set it down. You don't have to be in crisis to come, and you don't need the right words. "I've just been feeling heavy lately, and I'm tired of doing it by myself" is more than reason enough to reach out even if it’s to ask me how this works.
If that's you, let this be a gentle invitation to stop carrying it alone. At Carey Bergeron Therapy, I offer individual, couples, and group therapy, along with energy healing. We are in this together. No matter how you show up we can connect…When you're ready, I'm here.
In Gratitude,
Carey B.
